Family fun and a reminder that winter is nearing. I love the atmosphere and cold dry nights that bonfire night week sometimes bring.
A really good family atmosphere at South Heighton bonfire society night.

Networking. Theres so much to business networking that makes it work well. Yet it is very hard to meet like minds and get a networking meeting together that works as it should.
It is so important that all the attendees understand they are there to get to know the other attendees, also that the mission is not to sell to the others in the room but to build trust in order that the others feel comfortable to allow you to get to know the trusted connections they have.
I have recently been attending a breakfast club where this appears to be the ethos.. which is a breath of fresh air and attractive to maintain ones attendance on a regular basis.
Through all the years of being in business I have never found a medium to work better than such a network. Social media is of course great too, but only to compliment and support such strong and trusting networking.
Well done to anyone who has managed to set up, run and maintain attendance at any networking event such as the above. Hat off to you and thanks.

Well, this weekend has been one of much labour of love (work really). It took me over a day to cut the grass (or should I say, hay).
It was about 12 inches long!.. anyway, the upside of the grass cutting session was that Harry and Jake and thier friends from down the road got a ride in the John Deere Gator, or tractor as they call it.
We collected the grass up for the horses down the road to eat. There was such a lot of grass I didnt want to waste it so I asked the lady down the road if she wanted it for ther horses.
We filled up and tipped out one Gator truck full and realised that there was going to be about 6 or 7 loads more, so they are going ot finish it tomorrow..
Just some of the free fun (well, the tractor mower and the gator truck isnt free I guess) you can have knocking around outside. The kids absolutely loved it. The simple things in life a!… always the best.
When I attended the breakfast meeting at 7am last week on Wednesday, my name was drawn from the hat containing the names of all of the members of the Newhaven Chambers of Commerce. Which means I have had to write an article for the “Spotlight member” feature. So, 100 words or less about me. Well that’s a challenge as anyone who knows me will know. So hopefully, this little lot should do it. Oh and I had to take a picture of my face too 🙂 So here goes:
“Mark has a holistic approach to life, business, the local area and his family.
In 1998 Mark founded Infacom with his family, which today is a local thriving AV company. He went on to build a portfolio of successful business interests locally and globally.
Mark’s broad experience and business network led him to create Demand to Supply Ltd. A business which offers a highly experienced lateral thinking team to allow people to access the same tools he uses to achieve business growth through innovation.”

What a great community spirit at the Newhaven Fish Festival 2013.
I am always filled with a sense of family, community and inner joy when I go to these type of events. It’s a shame there is not a whole load more of these put on. But I guess it is a lot of work for those people that dedicate time and effort to getting these events organised and delivered.
Thanks to all these community members who make these kind of events happen. Keep up the good work. Even if they are all a bit fishy 🙂
This Friday saw the launch day of LEAP. This is the project I have been working with Lewes District Council’s Economic Regeneration team on.
I have been providing the business input and strategic overview for the sustainability of the concept and will continue to provide this to ensure the project gets off the ground fully and becomes the “go to” place and platform for people in the Lewes District area to create prosperity by way of taking up an apprenticeship, starting a business or gain direction for their career.
In my view this is a really powerful platform which will assist the task of local economic regeneration which is needed not only in Lewes District, but across the country. Perhaps this concept could be launched country wide. Lets see.
Thanks to Katie who has been instrumental in getting this off the ground too. A young local person who is clearly going places too.

So, I went to the Chamber of Commerce regular weekly breakfast this week. The Chamber meet each Wednesday at 7am at Woodies in Newhaven.
We give 1 minute overviews of our businesses and what we have to say as a update. Usually there are some Interesting and witty comments passed all around and one of the more comical types wins this Oscar aware for the best 1 minute.
Anyway, I did think that one day I should really try and win it. But, I never thought I was going to come up with anything that would be funny enough or entertaining enough to be awarded it.
To my surprise, just as my 1 minute was up this week, I squeezed in the fact that this week, Lanoguard had received it’s first order from France. The Chamber cheered and really appreciated this little comment. Soooo anyway, this won me the Oscar from Mr Mike Shorer, who was the local Jeweller that won it last week. 🙂
Thanks Mike,
So, BETT 2013. Was not sure about going this year. But very glad I did. There were a few things worth seeing.

Also quite a few new tablets and operations systems to consider for education and a host of new apps and hardware to suit them.
The above are just a few of the brilliant new products within the infacom portfolio.
This year looks to be an exciting year for Infacom and the education market’s new technology use.
More on this as the year progresses. We just need to get as many people to have deomsrations and training overviews on all this stuff 🙂

Well, 2 days spent with my Cousins family in the foot hills of the Pyrenees. A beautiful place here.
So restful and tranquil. I can see why he moved his life out here.
Only 30kms from a ski resort, 3 hours from Barcelona and breathtaking scenery.
It’s always rewarding to travel alone for a few days and take some time to get on it and not in it. Which is the theme of this trip.
Very interesting day yesterday and hopefully today too at the Wolfram Computer Based Maths conference.
Some very good thought provoking talks including Dr Karthauser’s talk on Dr Dots.
The question for me currently is “Do we need to understand how the math is done or is it ok to just let the computer do it while we progress to higher levels of achievements?”
More later after today’s sessions.
Today’s session left me with much of the same thinking. I posed this question to Conrad Wolfram “is CBM (Computer based maths) to maths what GPS is to map reading??
He thinks it is, but wants to come back to me on it to be sure :-).
Personally, I think it is. :-). This in turn will allow future Laymen to be rocket scientists and allow future Rocket Scientists to become??????
A good conference all in all.
